I can finally post this one! It's one of 4 paintings that I did for a client from the US. He is an actor named Matthew Ewald and has become a very close friend. My work on this project began almost 2 years ago! Not many pieces were created during this time, but some of the most time-consuming ones I ever did! It's been sheer fun up to this day. So far, it's a project in developement, a Sci-Fi/Horror saga called 'The Lost Landers' all written by Matthew.
This painting depicts a key confrontation scene in this tale.
It was meant to resemble New York, I checked some reference to get it all right. Everything except for the ship was painted in PS 7. Inititally, the ship had a different design but was changed in the process for different reasons. The new ship design, an alien tech-modified, highly-maneuverable Space Shuttle with the catchy name 'Astronautica' was modelled and rendered before I placed it into the scene.
Also, you should know that this painting is pretty old already. Any resemblance to Cloverfield is coincidental because that film wasn't even released by the time this was done!
So, I hope you enjoy! Another painting will follow!

Final Confrontation by *Hideyoshi has it all! A really cool mecha-dragon, a very dynamic composition and some sick painting skills! What else do you need? (

you know this picture fits a part of my dragon civil war book where sheirdan turnes dragons in a future starbase and tears it asunder. great detail in this piece too Ilike the scale work and the total and complete pissed off look the dragon has at the income ship. I love the motion blur to show he just turned his headto see the ship. as if to say "whats this?!"
