This would make a great album cover for a band. Maybe some Prog or EDM outfit.

Great space, it's difficult to make such simplistic work look good in 3D and this looks fantastic! It's a full image, nothing is missing, and the quality of your lighting and surfacing can answer for that.

At the risk of sounding like I'm coming on to you, this is the best use of 3D I've ever seen. What I mean by that is that it might not be a super complex sculpture, and isn't exactly a masterclass in texturing, but for actually creating a shot composition that works beautifully and gives the viewer nothing to wish for, it's sublime. A masterpiece. Well bloody done.

haha no way, too much praise yo! I'm glad that you like it though. :)
I guess good images always boil down to the simple things in the end. Funny thing is it takes years to realize that.

It totally is about simple ideas! And you're right, it takes a long time to get over the nit picking and detail hoarding that weighs you down as you develop, it took me forever to get over it and it's my greatest regret as an artist, not listening to the right people and failing to see the wood for the trees. I'm glad that I can appreciate it now and have time still to work with it.

I just realised I said masterpiece which might seem like kind of an excess of praise, I don't mean to be excessive. I really do think this is bloody excellent work, the beautiful gradients moving through the shot resisting the symmetry of the composition, a delicious colour palette and really palpable sense of space with almost nothing to work with. Looking through your work I can see that there is a great deal of consistency in the quality of your composition and colour, but stripping it down to this kind of simplicity makes it all the more apparent. It's a beautiful piece. No longer will I shower you with kudos, I'm done.

Also, I've been looking at using Modo a lot recently for use in concept, some of the folks I am working with sing it's praises to high heaven. It looks great and perfect for concept work, and I think you've just sold it to me.

thanks again, too kind :)
Modo is awesome, a lot of concept artists use it! I also think it's not too hard to learn. Good alternative to much harder software like Max or Maya..

Thankfully I have friends who have offered to give in depth tutorials so things will be very speedy indeed, but it sounds like it's very intuitive. I've got a lot of experience with Maya and I hate using it so I don't, and Maya's built in renderers suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck haha.
