Iceberg Submarine Base by Hideyoshi Iceberg Submarine Base by Hideyoshi
I dig painting underwater scenes. Combined with icebergs, even better!
For the current EOW, took about 5 h I think.
I think the composition could use work, something seems to be lacking. The small sub might be out of place, killing the balance?

Indetectable. Reminds me of that GI Joe movie that came out somewhere around 2010.

Just fabulous!!

The ice looks very organic, but then I have no idea what the underside of icebergs looks like, so I'll have to defer to your judgement :)

Nnnnnice colors!!

Well the perspective of the building is leaning to the left. If you draw a line through all 3 subs, you also get ark dropping to the left (from top left to down right). Maybe arrange the subs so you get an ark contrasting the buildings perspective.... to put it simply: Left sub down, right sub up.

Oh, and the balloons on the left also follow the same ark! I assume that all this coming together is what makes the composition seem so hard/ unloose.

But reeeally nice image, just love looking at the colors and shapes :)

If you stare at the iceberg for awhile, it looks like a freakish monster. The small sub *might* be out of place ... it certainly is a different shape/style from the other man-made objects in the scene.

I agree. I'm not much of an artist, so I don't know what it's missing, but the ice doesn't look very much like ice.

Looks amazing! Composition wise why not have another sub coming down from the top right corner (but nearer to the viewer). Could lead your eye down towards the station while eliminating some of the empty iceberg space? I did a 2sec sketch in ps but not sure how to attach anything to show you what I mean!

Haven't used photobucket before! Yeah just a thought, haven't put much effort into the actual sketch it's just to convey the general idea, could help get that sense of scale as well? Either way great work, look forward to whatever else you come up with!

It's missing some kind of feel for the distance.
As is you either see a small base with rather small subs coming in to dock that's not as distant as thought or the supposedly small sub in the front is far larger than a 2-man-craft should be.
I wouldn't know how to change it, though...

yeah i can agree with that. I see what you mean with the small sub there, no overlapping going on etc. So I think it's more of a scale issue than depth. With sci-fi, scale is sometimes hard to get right. It's in the details.
