Another CHOW entry, still practicing my characters :)
It's Elizabeth Bennet from the novel Pride & Prejudice

Put in a little more work this time, learned a couple of things actually :)
Probably my first painted female face that I think turned out ok...
based on a pencil sketch, about 5h I believe

here's a close-up

edit: oh yeah, I'll kill you if you mention how you like the vase or anything else in the background...

srsly now.
You've got to account for some randomness, free, curvy sketchiness... the way it is, it's very polished, very... tempered. Overdefined. In particular I mean the face shape and shadows, the clothing. The colors on the character are too saturated, also, I think.

Btw, you totally played easy on this one by doing a profile shot of her :D

The interior is very good, especially the column and the wall reflecting light from some window. I mean... it shows where you're confident with your art. :)

But I like the vase...

[insert funny quote here, I'm too lazy to go find one]

Now with 25% more peculiarity!

I love how well blended her skin looks! You're anatomical skills are improving too. Oh, and the folds on her dress look lovely - the painterly texture of them really adds to the feel of this image. Fantastic, you've really done this book great justice! :) (and yes...I have read it. D: )

die Vase ist geil xD

Also das Profil wirkt schon mal gut.

Wobei ich den kopf etwas schräger schauen lassen würde, damits nicht so unnatürlich wirkt im sitzen (Weil sie ja ne schräge Sitz Position hat). Ansonsten nice nice. Charaktermässig wirste echt besser

I like the face and hair, it seems a lot smoother and well blended than your usual speedy.

AND OMG! THAT VASE!!!
*joking*
Sorry I could not help myself; it's just too funny since everyone else was saying something about it.

I like the portrait and the dress; however, the dress may be too revealing for 19th century England. Don't you think? But great CHOW! I was thinking of joining Conceptart, as I want to improve my technique, as I never get any constructive critiques here on dA. Are the feedbacks there worth joining? Thanks!
:icondieman:
her face seems a little TOO profile-y, you know? Like, something just seems a bit too 2-dimensional... maybe it's her eyes. GREAT VASE! :D

:Spins away, causing a dramatic cloak swirl, adds a corny anime-style over-the-shoulder thumbs-up; and exeunt stage left:

[making the sign of the cross] Spectacles, testicles, wallet, and watch. Okay, good.

Or maybe make her other arm a bit more visible, like put that hand on top of her visible hand.
