I chose a japanese myth about Hidesato, an archer who went and slew the giant Centipede by shooting an arrow which was dipped in his own saliva.
Dunno, how long it took.. I know I was using more time staring at the image without painting anything. It's a bad habit of mine when I work on 'bigger' paintings. It looses intuitiveness and swiftness in a painting which is bad.
I didnt have any reference, but looked at photos for the sky colors to get the time of the day right.
Some parts of the Centipede were quickly modelled and pasted in, overpainting.
here is some 75% detail shots:
oh yeah..... THE ARCHER IS LOOKING AT THE CENTIPEDE
FROM THE CORNER OF HIS EYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111
First of all I love the image, looks so awesome
Second of all I have a steampunk blog on Tumblr accendamur.tumblr.com/ where I am beginning to write my own steampunk novel and was wondering if I could upload your image. I would of course include the link to your picture in the description and not take any credit for it.
Even though it's not obvious that he's eyeing the creature out of the corner of his eye I guess it gives him just that bit more of a "badass" factor for shooting the beastie without even having to look at it!
love the picture glad I saw it and I desire this image for use in a card game I doubt Ill be aloud to use it but hey I might be able to so might as well ask
Which is good, because I want travel through the desert sitting on centipede-san.
