:Tank design: by Hideyoshi :Tank design: by Hideyoshi
Quite old design, actually this was one of my very first marker renders I ever did. That's why I still like it, came out fine I'd say :-)
Don't be to critical about this, I know where the mistakes are... ;-)Oh yeah, there is a modern version to this one, I could upload sometime later (it's not finished yet).
Hm...this tank design was once intended to be part of a huge manga universe, that me and one of my friends created, but the manga never came to start, which is a pity somehow...

Anyway, enjoy!

It's good, but it looks like you just took the idea from a Ghost in a shell: Stand alone complex episode which is an anime.

Lol, you don't need to show me those links, I am well aware about the similarities to the GITS tanks! And I didn't want to hide anything here! It's obvious that the original spider tank concept was developed back in 1995 when the first anime of Ghost in the Shell hit the surface.
And after that, many different types of spider tank design came up. Just tried to do something original throwing in my own ideas. This was not stolen, but it is yet another different spider tank design...

The design looks rather good for a walking tank. :) The main gun is mounted in an awkward way however, far too high up. It would get some interesting results to fire that thing like that without the mech laying flat on the ground or otherwise bracing itself. It's also placed in a way that would make walking and balancing tricky - I think that having it over the center of gravity would have been far more logical, as well as lower down.

If anything, the two machineguns could switch places with the main gun, as it would be well braced in the main body. :)

Well, you're quite right! It's one of my early designs, actually I was my first real marker render...
I'd know what to change by now if I did something similar :-)

Yep. :P The illustration is great, just the thought behind the design wasn't so well thought out. Not sure how you get to know those things. STudying real military tanks? Physics? Etc, I guess something like that.

Great design...if a little clunky. I like how the legs turned out in this image, those are some of the harder parts to accomplish in legged mecha. Some of mine turn out to be a little too skinny, or stubby looking.

Kinda odd, when I look at this design, and the sketch I am working on right -now- I can see the similarities. We have both employed a Dual gun setup in the front, plus six legs and a 'tail'. The chasis of mine is more similar to a real-life battle tank, but it still looks similar.

Great job with the marker rendering...it really adds weight to the image. Is the background color the page, or is it digitaly edited in?

(I'll send you a link to my tank when I finish it, if you wish to see the compairison.)

Klasse.

Hach!

Grüße,
(-)|dE
