Through the Ice by Hideyoshi Through the Ice by Hideyoshi
This is just a quick sketch, 40 mins. No ref.
Sorry, rather lame, I know. Bare with me until I get back to my older level. I MIGHT try to do regular daily sketches to stay in shape or something. No promises though.

I realize that some of those rocks make no sense lol.

Rocks that make no sense? No such thing.
Seriously.
I've seen MUCH weirder slopings.

I understand your comments but this scene actually works well for a series of "Arcitnaut" skits I am developing. Can I use this as a projected image for a skit background on a Sunday morning in out Kids Church program?

Have you been away or something? What do you mean get back to your "older level?" Are you still in the army or something? I don't think it is lame at all it gives an impression of hope!

You have a really good concept of how of use colors to your advantage! Love it :) This makes me want to work harder at my paintings so i can do stuff like this one day without references! :D

it makes me laugh when artists say "Sorry, rather lame, I know", and it's waaaaaaaaaaay better than anything you've made yourself. This is a great picture!!

Well, I don't think it's lame... I would love to be able to make something like this in only 40 mins. :faint:
I like the mood (especially that I love winter :)) and I really enjoyed the view.

Only one thing: talking about those travellers... Maybe some footsteps on the snow?

Could you tell me what brushes you've worked with? Photoshop standard? I'm trying to learn more about digital painting methodes :)

Enchanting. Did you use any effects, filters, etc or just brushes?

:iconhideyoshi:

just brushes and smudge tool. For that I use a chalky one that doesn't have spacing (very important)

yeah, and you are using them both with such excellence! is there any possibility to share maybe tuts that can help, or check what i am doing and give a feedback! it would be greatly appreciated, of course, if you have time! i wasn't able to draw much in last 10 years, because of life circumstances, but in last few months i am drawing like crazy and trying to get the fundamentals right. since i dont have any school it is a bit difficult lol :)

start with youtube maybe, there are tons of good speedpainting tutorials. Avoid the 'how to paint Megan Fox' vids though. :P
FZDschool has an awesome channel with Feng Zhu teaching. The internet can get you far, I never went to school either.

i am already seen all master feng's videos, at least twice, and much i've learned from him. thanks for the answer, i need more hard work and i am trying to save some cash for FZD, i hope i will get in. but, until that happens, i will work harder than ever to try and achieve the results like you and other master artists!

thanks again, i appreciate it!
